最終回となる今回は、最も難易度が高い「解決策を提案する問題」と「意見を述べる問題」を見ていきたいと思います。
問題点を理解し、解決策を提示する
「解決策を提案する問題」の形式は、留守番電話のメッセージ(英語)を聞いてから、留守電で提示された問題を明らかにしつつ、解決策を提案するものです。
留守電のメッセージは「銀行のATMカードが急に使えなくなった」「届いた品がオンラインで注文したものと違う」「レストランの予約の時間が間違っている」「買ったばかりの家電が動かない」「支払いが請求額より少ない」といった苦情です。回答者は、苦情が寄せられた企業で働く担当者の身になって、解決策を英語で述べていきます。回答時間は60秒間です。
では、問題例を見ていきましょう。

Hello. My name is Mark Johnson. I am calling you regarding a reservation I made for next Tuesday. Last week, I tried to make a reservation for twelve people at 12:30pm on the fifth, but I was told that 12:30pm was not available. But when I called last night to discuss the menu we are going to have, I was told that the reservation was at 1:30pm and that it would not be possible to change it to 1pm.
