中国は現地時間4日午後1時56分（日本時間同2時56分）ごろに台湾沖の北東および南西の海域にミサイル｢東風｣を数発発射した。台湾国防部（国防省）が声明で発表した。
発表によると､台湾軍は関連する防衛システムを発動し戦闘準備を強化。台湾国防部は地域の平和を損なう中国の不合理な行動を非難すると表明した。
