Kenneth E. Lawrence is President of Lawrence Creative and Director of Soju Projekt. He is a best-selling author, a veteran journalist and educator, an award-winning scholar of Asian history and culture. He received a Masters' Degree in Asian Theatre from the University of Hawai'i at Manoa in 2003, where he also completed coursework for a Doctorate Degree. He received an Arts and Sciences Advisory Council Award in 1998 for the study of gamelan in Bali, and again in 1999 for a scholar exchange with Rennselaer Polytechnic Institute in Troy, New York. He has also been awarded two Pacific Asian Scholarships, a Bank of Hawai'i Scholarship, and a UCLA Japanese Studies Travel Grant.
 

In 1990, Kenneth married into a family of licensed performers of Noh, the traditional masked dance drama of the samurai, and began his studies of the movement, music and chant of Noh. From 1988 to 1996 he worked in Tokyo at the National Noh Theater for the International Theater Institute and was the editor of two scholarly journals on Japanese theater. He was a featured musician on the CD 'Noh in English'  and in 'Eliza,' a video release of the premier 1990 performance at the Tokyo Umewaka Noh Theater.

Kenneth is the author of Pentagon-Style English Pronunciation, a bestseller in Japan, published in 2015. He has published over 100 newspaper columns on Japanese performing arts. From 1989 to 1996, he wrote a monthly column on Japanese traditional theater for the Japan Times newspaper. He has also had articles published in the Mainichi Daily News, Northwest Classicist, and the Asian Theatre Journal. His research was accepted for presentation to the International Society for the Study of European Ideas (ISSEI) conference in Bergen, Norway, at the UCLA Student Symposium, and in Lieden, Sweden. His monthly column 'Stories from the Noh' appeared in the Hokubei Houchi newspaper, and he is currently the author of the weekly DigiLetter Heike Monogatari and the Noh Theater of Japan'. He is a regular contributor to Parabola magazine.
